Inspirational Leaders

Our next experiential leadership development programme is due to begin in September and since it’s one of our flagship programmes, often described as life changing, we are beyond excited. There is one last place available and if this piques your interest, get in touch asap. To add to the activity at Pro-Development Towers we’ve got a number of in-company similar programmes just started or starting shortly for groups of 10 and 15 leaders – it’s what we love and the excitement and expectation is palpable in the team.

The start of each new cohort really makes us think about what inspirational leadership really is about. We believe that the natural potential for leadership success is in every person. There is no cause to question whether anyone naturally ‘has what it takes’ to lead effectively and successfully.

There is a generalisation about what successful inspirational leaders are like but there are actually lots of types of leadership that work in different situations, and we value them all. If you think about entrepreneurs, they often have the innovative ideas and charismatic personalities but don’t necessarily always combine that with the leadership and operational skills to grow successful businesses and bring out the best in their people so they surround themselves with people who do have those skills.

Research shows that leaders are more successful when they have a deep understanding of the core business of their organisation, and they are experienced in leadership and management. Boosting your skills is crucial, whether that is professional development, gathering experience, books and research or coaching and mentoring support to build confidence. We obviously believe in continual professional development and that you are never the finished article. Simon Sinek eloquently makes another important point:

“Leadership is not a journey to rise in the ranks. Leadership is a journey to help those around us rise.” Simon Sinek

Have a look at this Forbes article ‘7 Powerful Characteristics Of A Truly Inspirational Leader’ which talks about the seven powerful characteristics that create truly inspirational leaders.

  • Commitment to values
  • Investing in personal development
  • Radiate authenticity
  • Skilful communicators
  • Encourage unity
  • Approachable and inclusive
  • Embrace vulnerability and risk

We would also add that

  • Take the time to identify what you want to do and what kind of leader you want to be and work on that
  • Focus your drive on the ‘make or break’ – the one thing that must be done extraordinarily well to achieve your vision.
  • Keep on track, develop a personal dashboard of key areas you need to keep an eye on and finally,
  • Think about your energy, presence and impact, learn to self-reflect and get feedback.

Don’t forget we can help; we will help you develop authentic and inspiring leaders in a way that supports your business and its success. We use our wealth of knowledge and experience to help managers and leaders develop skills and confidence to maximise their own potential and to inspire teams to be their best, retain talent in the business and achieve business goals and profitability.
