Inspiration breeds inspiration – don’t be afraid to talk about what inspires you. Having an open atmosphere where you can share your vision for your team and your business may help your team share theirs – let’s spur each other on!
We spend so much time at work that it’s so important to love what you do… if not, why do it? In Juan’s blog in January, he wrote about your WHY!, do go and have a read of it and ask yourself what YOUR WHY is and dare to follow it this year!
When you love what you do it shines out of you for all to see! People gravitate to your passion and authenticity and are inspired by it. The new year is always a good time to reflect on what you need to feel your very best self for the year ahead. What does that look like for you? We often come across people who are reluctant to simply be them in their workplaces and yet we also know that ‘people buy from people’. It’s YOU that inspires your team, so be you, the best version of you, allow yourself to shine and be the truly authentic and inspiring person you are.
Our titles and job role don’t inspire our people, they are inspired by WHO we are. As a leader you are an influencer, so this month, allow your authenticity and passion to shine out in all you do, because when we are inspired, that’s communicated to our colleagues and team and can lead to them being inspired too. When passion and enthusiasm eeeks out of you it affects everyone and motivates and encourages them.
Recently on the Management Development Programme, I had the opportunity to work with horses – such a privilege. It was a complete revelation to me that like our teams, the horses can sense our joy, enthusiasm, and motivation, yet also our fear, reluctance, and sadness too. They can be motivated or demotivated simply by our energy and our tone of voice in what we ask them to do.
It made me question what it is that our team’s sense from us? Do they sense that we love what we do, are passionate about it and are inspired ourselves? Because, if not, that too is evident to those around us and can be so demotivating.
If you are not loving what you are doing, be curious as to what needs to change and be bold in challenging it.
So, what is it that motivates and inspires your team? As leaders we have the privilege to lead our teams, to get to know them, empower them and unlock the potential in them to grow and develop. It was interesting to simply step back and observe the horses, it was easy to identify their characteristics and personalities, how often do we do this with our colleagues/teams, to step back and observe, notice and be curious about what motivates and inspires them?
When our teams are inspired, they are engaged – engaged employees love what they do and then go on to inspire others!
Inspiration breeds inspiration – don’t be afraid to talk about what inspires you. Having an open atmosphere where you can share your vision for your team and your business may help your team share theirs – let’s spur each other on!
So, be your best You this year, be passionate, love what you do and inspire your team!
