Growth and development should be constant and one of my reasons for joining Pro-Development 2.5 years ago was to continue with this. I joined Pro–Development having spent much of my working life in the Charitable Sector so moving into the business world was a big learn and proved to have some very different as well as some very similar challenges. I was slightly concerned that this move wouldn’t fulfil my desire to make a difference – how wrong was I!
Delivering our 7-month experiential leadership programme, I have been amazed and humbled at the impact the programmes have had not just on the lives of the individuals but on the companies, they work for.
The programme takes an in-depth look at leading self, leading teams, leading individuals and leading through change in a challenging and unique way and between each workshop and activity, the participants have an individual coaching session.
It is just amazing to see the impact the programme has from welcoming a group of nervous individuals, anxious about what’s in store for them and what challenges they will face – and watching them grow and develop into a group of confident leaders, who fully understand themselves and their individual leadership styles and embrace challenges and change. Each programme welcomes new people and new challenges but every time, they come away with the most incredible confidence to lead. It is definitely the cherry on the cake in my role as Learning and Development Consultant!
I know what we do is having an impact and making a difference – for some people it is life changing, overcoming fears and barriers they never believed they could, for others it provides them with a better understanding of themselves and their values which enables them to live more fulfilling and happy lives. They all grow in their knowledge and skills to take the next step and embrace the challenge leadership brings with inner strength and confidence.
What has surprised me the most is it seems that the programme is a gift that keeps on giving. People who completed the programme 8 years ago talk to us like it only happened yesterday and how the learning taken from the programme has shaped and continues to shape their leadership journey and life.
If you would be interested on going on your own journey of self-discovery and leadership then our next programme starts in September. You might also be interested in this video on our website where one of our past participants shares his journey. More information about the programme can also be found here.
And for those based in York, North Yorkshire and the East Riding, we have funding available to support you.
